2kw should do it plus a bunch of flowers & a few beers for the caravan next to you who will have to suffer the racket & pollution it makes ! I honestly think your best boiling your kettle on the gas stove . We have a 700w honda 4 stroke generator which is enough to keep the leisure battery charged but only use it when the battery is run down on rally fields. It would not run a microwave / hairdryer but will run a tv.

thanks for that advice i was looking for a silent gene mainly for the wifes hairdryer we do use the gas for tea

We bought our van a year ago and travelled france/portugal/ spain from september getting back last week . I also thought i would need a generator and purchased a Kipor 2600kw , i got it going in the garden and have never used it since , stayed at over 50 different locations and the only generator i have seen being used was at the motorhome show in  Peterborough

We got over the hair dryer problem by buying a low wattage1000w Ghd hairdryer which my wife loves and staying at sites with plugin when needed. I will not bother to take the generator away again unless absolutely neccessary which will save loads of weight plus the fuel. I also agree with the noise issue
