Hi there all. I have a Hymer 644G with the Fiat 2.8 engine. I disconnected the battery for the winter, have just fully charged it and reconnected it.
But, now when I go to start it up, I get the constant CODE symbol on the dashboard and the engine will turn but not start. Sure it is a key code problem, and wondered if anyone else has had the same thing happen to their Fiat. Tried disconnecting battery, leaving for a minute or two and trying again, but no joy. Have the correct keys, including the main red one, so can't understand what is going wrong. Is this an expensive trip to the Fiat main dealers?? Or is there a 'trip switch' somewhere? Thanks for any help offered gang.
Try contacting your FIAT dealer, and asking them, they will be able to tell you if you need to input a code, sounds like somehthing needs to be reset using the key code.
In future, do not disconnect the battery, get a solar panel and a battery master, then you do not have to worry about the battery discharging, or the leisure battery come to that
assume you got this sorted by now but just incase...
the code system is common to all Fiat/Alfa/Lancia vehicles and can get a strop on from time to time, it is very sensitive to input voltage if the battery has been off for a while, make sure you are getting a solid 12v+ from the battery, also there will be a relay which controls the code system, not sure of it's location on the Ducato though but likely under the bonnet not to far from the battery. On the Alfa's these are prone to corrosion causing poor contacts and non-starting,
