Does anyone know where I can get an awning for an Autotrail Chiefton? I've been to the dealer I purchased it from but they say its to high to fit an awning with an annex on and the only one they say will fit is a bit like a phone box! I know my bus is a big 'un, but some one must have fitted one. Any advice is welcome.

Hi Hylux, I would think that someone would be able to fit a Fiamma or Omnistor  for you

They don't make many stand-alone drive-away awnings that will fit big/high vans.

A Fiamma or Omnistor wind - out can have sides & front to turn it into a "safari room" but it has to be dismantled if you want to drive away.

Have a look at riverswayleisure.co.uk they have a couple that may fit - how tall is it? The Hightop Delux & Super Hightop Delux larger one says height from 7 ft 6 ins to 8 ft 6 ins. These can have annexes. The Motor Porch also says height up to 8 ft 6 ins, but doesn't seem to have an annex option. They also do Fiammas.

You'll have to take a step ladder with you tho' to reach to put them up!

Well, I won't bother with one Glynn, at my height I'd need a fireman's lift! I even had to stand on the step to connect the one on my Frisky to the gutter! I'll make do with the Omnistor & I've just got a posh new windbreak that's 5 metres long by 1.4 metres high to go around the edge.

Have you tried NR Awnings, they do quite a range for motorhomes, I have a Motor Villa for my Royale and it is quite easy to erect. I only use it as a standalone.

Phil.

Hello, we had a very similar problem, We came up with 2 options

1 fit a J Bar lower down.

2 Get a Kyham Mortordome Excelsior.

We went for option 2 This is great you will get lots of admiring glances on site and it's easy to erect. It's a drive away, it attaches to the existing guttering or awning rail, its lighter than all canvas or cotton awnings. I would recommend without hesitation. (Kyham's customer service is a bit slow to respond but when they do they give excellent advice) http://www.khyam.co.uk have a look they do not sell direct but will probably have a dealer close by.
