Hi!
I'm trying to sensible and work out how much a motorhome costs to run each year in preparation for my purchase. Other than unpredictable expenses such as repairs, these are the things I think I need to budget for:
- insurance
- MOT
- breakdown cover
- habitation checks
- servicing
Have I missed anything?
Will motorhome insurers take into account my no claims on my car?
Thanks in advance
When we first insured ours through caravan guard they immediately offered to match whatever i had on the car, which entitled me to full no claims. just had renewal through the post which came in at £367 and there are some cards to pass onto friends to grab yourself another £10 online saving at www.caravanguard.co.uk/friend

Under 3500 is private light goods and over 3500kg private heavy goods,we use our M/Home all years and it is our only form of transport,on average we spend around £2200 a year for everything, but we do have quite a lot of weekends out and we also go to cornwall at least twice a year,We insure With Saga over 50s the van is fully Comp with UK recovery £217 P/year,before we had the M/home we had a 40 foot boat, and the moarings alone was £2100 a year in 2004,and that was before insurance/river licence/boat safety certificate and fuel,we have had C/vans in the past and decided to go back to it as what we were paying for moaring alone gave us almost a year in our van with going away.
------------- Think this year is to follow old meet friends for 2014.
If you cant do someone a good turn, don`t do them a bad one,its nice to be nice you know, and little things mean much more later in life.
Pete.
