Real MPG

Info for anyone thinking of purchasing a tag axel motor home or for those of you who would like to compare their mpg

Just carried out a brim to brim test to ascertain the real miles per gallon for the Fiat 160bhp engine on an Autotrail Chieftain, two up and approx half loaded (not towing anything or any roof box etc)

Leicestershire  to the lake district area and back, so some country some duel carriage way and some motorway (65mph average on the motorway)

427 miles driven = 18.4 mpg

Computer said 20.8 mpg

At what point do you fill up your second brim full ? You Would have to nearly run it out to get an accurate measurement.

Started off with a brimmed tank i.e. right up to the neck of the filler cap and then I actually had to add 25 liters on the way back home (motorway services so obviously didn't brim it there. Took it to a local garage and brim filled it again, checked the total mileage and added the 25ltrs to the amount it need to brim and hay presto.

427 (miles) divided by 105.2 (ltrs) X 4.546 (liters to a gallon) = 18.45 miles per gallon
