I just wondered if there is a recognised mod' available,in order to raise the exhuast "tail pipe"on an '08 Boxer?

As with most Boxers/ducatos,the exhuast on our Boxer exits by the driver's door and seems to sit way to low to the ground(our's 5 inches at it's lowest!).

I'd also like to have it exit 2-3feet further back (as at present you get loads of "nasty niffs" when you've got the driver window down 17)

As the pipe and silencer are one piece(on our's anyway), it can't even be rotated slightly..

I don't really want to have to go down the bespoke,one-off route if I can help it..

Any thoughts?.....

Chris

Edit: it's only the 2.2hdi

You need to get a piece of tube that fits over the outside dimension of the exsisting pipe. You can then cut the pipe fit the piece of tube over the two parts and using exhaust clamps and sealer join them together giving you the required length.

Using an exhaust clamp and strap you can make a exhaust hanger to support the pipe at its new location.

I did this when i made a kit car at that was a 2inch tube so size isnt a problem  so that might be an avenue to consider or an exhuat manufacturer some have preformed reducing pipes they are pasically wider at one end to fit over the tube.

you need to take the measurement of the exhust pipe you want to cut. then source the tube.

Thanks for that spartan..17

Yeah,I realise what needs to be done..I just didn't want to start hacking at the exhaust and ending up with an "odd ball",if recognised modification already exists..

I think I may just fire off an email to Peugeot and see what they come back with...

(..I expect this mod' has been carried out many times before.?!?.)

You could find a local firm that make stainless steel exhausts, they will route the pipe where ever you want it, I had it done on my Chausson. Guarantee for life !! with the exhaust

£45.........it was about 1.5 metres and the lad made it exactly how I wanted it, took him over an hour. I was very pleased with the result There are cheaper places around , just a matter of looking.

Thanks again Martin..17

I'll have a look and see what stainless steel fabrictors are around locally first...

...as for our local exhaust fitting centres, they all seem to be populated by "spotty yoofs",who'd look more at home workin' on a fairground ride!..17

(..sorry..that sounds a little "Daily Mail(ish)"  17 )
