It could well be genuine, many motorhomes are a family's second or even third vehicle which means they could only be used a couple of times per year - theoretically your Talbot has done only 1600 miles per year since 1989 which is perfectly possible.
The best method of verifying mileage is to check the vehicles old MOT's (if you have any of them), these should record the mileage so will give you a year on year idea. Also if you have any service history that should record dates and mileage.
Indicators of high mileage on any vehicle are:
- smooth and shiny steering wheel indicating plenty of use
- worn pedal rubbers & footwell carpets, especially where the heel of your left foor rests
- worn drivers seat
- gear knob - is the ' H' gate pattern still visible?
- stone chips on bonnet indicating plenty of mileage
If it is in general immaculate condition and does not have any of these ailments above then it is probably genuine but the service histories & old MOT's are the best indicator.
