Hi, has anyone done the Bealach na Baa (Scotland) in a Motorhome???

We have a 4 berth Peugeot Talbot 'Rhapsody' motorhome and would love to take this route but not sure if the van will be able to handle it.

I have just youtubed it and I would not even drive on it in a car! Mind you I do hate heights. Looks scary to me.

The heights never look as bad in photos and videos either so this must be worse than it looks.

Hairpin bends etc

Good luck if you do go that way SCOTTNTINA!

if this is the type of van you have talbot rhapsody then I recon you'd be fine I'd have no concerns taking mine up there.. I've spoken to plenty of people with small campers on other forums who've been up there ..on the other hand if its this this
I'd be worried ....

We just need to replace the manifold gasket and then we are raring to go!  The only problem now is do we risk the clutch and the brakes??  Life on the edge or what!!!

We went up in our Autosleeper Duetto a couple of years ago. It was ok for us and saw larger vehicles. There is a largish parking area at the top and people were going to camp there overnight although we didn't. You can "bag a Munro" fairly easily from the top apparently although we didn't know this at the time.
I too have a video of part of the ascent.

We did it lastyear in the car a 1:4 Astra,. You are better tackling it from the Applecross end, its far more spectacular.  We met a couple of arctic lorries coming up from the other side.  It is quite a climb, but if you take easy you will manage. Keep in a lower gear on the way down, its not as bad as people say.  Look out for the herds of red deer on the mountain slopes, and if lucky you may just spot a pair of eagles soaring in the sky. In Applecross, up the back there is small garden centre with a nice cafe.

Thanks for all your replies.  A friend is flying up to Applecross and is hiring a car so we will do the coastal route on the way up, do the route in his hire car and then decide whether to risk coming back that way.  Fingers crossed, we will be able to do it.

We are off tomorrow!!!!
