Not always overcharge fault, a duff/worn out battery will give the same result as the charger try's to charge a battery that will not hold its charge.
Know this to my own cost...had to cut a holiday short, van in for a check over, lots of time spent checking elektrobloc...fault duff battery....could have saved myself 200 notes and just bought a 60 quid battery.
Lesson learned should have trusted my own insincts.
get the battery off and see how long it can hold a charge off the vehicle..but its prob goosed now any way after being boiled...plates will be buckled inside.
