I wonder if any of you good people could point me in the right direction for someone who will insure a self build campervan please.

Its a converted ambulance.

Just had a look on their website - they dont seem to offer cover for Motorhomes

just phoned Adrian Flux and they were brilliant - got a guestimate from them even though we are not the registered keeper - yet - but we will be at the end of October.

Complicated scenario as registered keeper is in Oz but will be back in UK by the end of September. Van is SORN and no MOT or roadtax - need to get it to the garage for the necessary then tax it for him - not an easy task but not a problem for Adrian Flux - seems the scenario is more common than we thought!

Mick - I couldn't find anything on the website to indicate that they insure selfbuild campervans

We use Shield Total Insurance.   We converted our VW van and it was insured initially as a van and once converted, we submitted photos and now fully insured for an agreed value at no extra cost.17   Hope this helps

Thanks for your help - I have since found out - as I have now seen the motorhome - that it is not a self build but a factory conversion. The confusion came from the fact that it was not finished off. Bloke doing it couldn't afford it so sold it as it was. Seems the only finishing done by 'self' was the curtains!

Going through Saga for 150 quid ish.
