Hi we have a vw autosleeper trident up till now we havent bothered with a television but we are going away up scotland over christmas . Can anybody give us some advice on what we will need . As its a small campervan the telly cant be too big

Hi mate, right have you got an aerial on the roof? if not do a search on ebay there is loads of stuff that you could use re, poles that you can attach to the rear ladder(i used to have a Trident) and that is what i did although mine did have a roof fitted aerial, but in some areas ie., where you are going  the signal maybe very weak, also on ebay i have seen some lovely 8" to 10" flip down screens tvs. at a very good price. Or you could get yourself a portable sky set up from maplins for around £80 and then all you need is a little flat screen tv you can hang anywhere in the camper. Then you will definetely get tv anywhere, hows that, good luck.17

hi mate i use a small 8.5 tv with inbuilt freeview it comes with magmount aeriel and gives a superb picture i find it spot on for what i want.

We bought a small 10.5 inch mains/12volt digital/analogue flat screen television from Maplins and we use it occasionally on battery if no hook up available. Sometimes needs an aerial but often works fine on integral one.

when you go to scotlands  tv signal is poor in most places.sky can be a problem sometimes with trees .but can always watch a dvd and the scenery.

In Wales, on sites with no TV reception we were issued with aerial cables to plug into aerial connection on hook up bollards. One gave them free, one free but with a £5 deposit and one charged £1 for the week.

Worked very well and you could make one for a few pounds.

as mentioned before signal can be pretty iffy up here...we're in the central belt and get everything but inlaws who are only 20miles down the road get neither channel 5 nor digital...so satellite may be your only route to guarantee reception
