Hi there, I was just looking for some info. I purchased an elderly camper which is all fibreglass, sadly the previous owners never felt the need to keep it in good order. Every time I come back from an outing I need to go over it all with Cif and a scourer, its almost like its porous.

The question is, could it be re-sprayed ? Its so embarrassing to go onto a site where all the campers are lovely and shiney and mines looks like I just don't care.

Any advice would be welcomed, thank you.

Hiya, I too have a new but elderly camper and plan to have it resprayed - am on good terms with the firm that regularly straightens my car bumper. He used to have a camper and has a soft spot for them, so I'll post details of how it goes idc. Good luck with yours!

Thank you all for your swift replys. My worry is that we have used all sorts of things to clean it over the past two years, I'm wondering if that would have any effect on the respray. Also can anyone advise whether £1200 is a reasonable price for respraying a 16" long camper?

A reasonably profficient sprayer will ensure that is is cleaned with the necessary fluids etc.

I am sure that someone somewhere would charge less but would they do a good job. Many will charge more and do a good job.

I would get a few more quotes and take references but doesn't sound too bad

You do not give your location but if you are anywhere near the coast where there are boatyards, speak to one of their painters and they will give you the lowdown on respraying glass fibre.

HI Mate to paint fibreglass is no big deal you prep it and repair ir in the same way as a metal body then you use an etch primer on it then use a 2 pack or single pack paint easy when you know how.

I would do it myself without fear however if it is not up your street to have a go then i would say if the body is not to bad £6/800 should kill it .

Bet it would look lovely when it is done though.

What you need to do is contact a commercial vehicle painter they would probably only want the vehicle for a week .

Hope this helps in some way.

Also personally,I'd be sticking with original colour scheme as well and try and get any existing decals etc copied before they're removed. That way you'd end up with a tidy original looking vehicle..and not something that has had to have had a respray, inorder to cover up something.
