Well that turned out to be an expensive weekend!

With all intentions of just "..having a look..." at a couple of vans whilst travelling back up from a couple of nights away in Glastonbury(..both vans being overcabs,based on twin wheel Transits)...we end up doin' a deal at Highbridge,on an '08 Chausson Allegro 83...a low profile,based on a front wheel drive Renault Master 150!...work that one out! 

It is a lovely van mind and at a decent enough price..and we got a good trade in price on ours'

(...I'll just have to start the whole process of sorting 'what goes where'..and cutting bits of anti slip matting/foam to line cupboards etc,all over again... )

Nice one, Highbridge have a great reputation so I am sure they won't disappoint on the after sales front either.

Yeah,the cab is a little basic/dated looking compared to our  current '07 Boxer(..which has the "fake wood" panels!)but it's something we can live with...

It'll be good to have a vehicle again,that doesn't run out of puff on motorway gradients..

My parents used to deal with them back in the eighties and we never had any trouble at all.  It is still run by the same family I believe and if we were into touring rather than being seasonal, I would have bought our van from them without hesitation.

My parents' friends bought their Sterling there and haven't had any grumbles, although they are changing to a Pegasus from Northam Farm lol, lured by the newness.

Well,the OH has had her eye on them for a while(..whilst I've dithered over whether to change to a van conversion,a demountable or even a tag-axle  )

She especially liked the Allegro 97(?),an island bed model but we liked this 83,so thought,why not!

The only thing is,it hasn't got the skylight over the cab,that the Fiat based models have(..but we're not going to miss what we haven't had!  )

hope you enjoy it if it were me i would just sit in it to get a good feel for the way i would stow things , and then i would just preen.
