informaton needed for pub stopovers for VW transporter

or does anyone know of a website dedicated to free camping

Just be careful that they are safe though, there are some areas notorious for high crime where I certainly wouldnt feel safe bedding down for the night, and after an unpleasent experiance on the A47 a few years ago involving a gang of drunken yobos this also includes lay-byes.

Luckily for us we had my daughters Doberman with us at the time and his barking and snarling managed to frighten them off when they tried to force the caravan door in the early hours of the morning.

There have also been a few reports of gas attacks on motorhomes via their fridge vents whilst out on the continent. Basically the thieves spray a gas in to knock out the occupants whilst they are sleeping before breaking in to steal valubles or in some cases the motorhome itself, leaving the occupants unconsious at the roadside.

If you are in the Welsh borders area the following are recommended;

The Griffin Inn at Trevalyn, near Wrexham, and The Bickerton Poacher, between Nantwich and Wrexham on the A534. I have not actually stayed at their sites but regularly use them for meals. Both are friendly, traditional pubs with good food, real ales, and flat grassy sites, and their site fees were around £8 per unit in 2009 (electric extra) The Bickerton provides breakfasts and there is an all day carvery.

This is an urban myth - even the SAS do not have a product this effective.  In the article I read this comment it was confirming that this was a myth and it also stated that if a gas like this existed it would be too expensive for everyday thieves to purchase. Think about it - if a product like this was on the market would we even be safe in our homes?  I am not saying that you do not need to take care but inaccurate statements like this may put some people off taking advantage of some good places to stop over.

 The mag. Practical m/home has started a scheme where pubs

/inns etc are registering to allow overnight stops.  I think at the pres time they have about 6 signed up in different parts of country.
