We are converting a Citroen Relay high top van and are looking for a suitable heat resistant material/panel to use around the cooker and kitchen area. Does anyone know of a supplier or have any suggestions for something lightweight that we could use?
Many thanks
Linda

well you can make a panel out of 3mm ply and cover it in a laminate or you can buy the panels ready made for the ready made version try o,learys if you go into the directory on this site you will find them, they deal in a lot of end of line stuff.
Or you can even find the panels on ebay at a reasonable cost.
hope this is some help to you please let us all know how you decide to go forward with the project .
Carrying out your own conversion is great fun i did mine last year and loved every minute of it if i acn be of help give us a shout.

------------- you may be frustrated now but infront of me there is a big incline . yeh it may be slow but it is in front
We've tried O'Learys but they don't actually do anything with a heat-proof finish only the bog standard laminated panels that most caravan/motorhomes use.
In our last conversion, we made the panels out of ply and then covered them with a stainless steel sheeting for the kitchen which was very effective, but expensive and rather heavy.....was hoping to find a lightweight heat resistant material this time round..
You are quite right Delboy, it can be good fun doing your own conversion. This is our 3rd van conversion and we've done a narrowboat fitout in between----must be fun or we're gluttons for punishment!

Hi brittle, I fitted an asbestos type of heat resistant board (it is not asbestos) about two years ago around my oven and it can be bought cut to size, cant remember the name of the stuff, and it was'nt that expensive, bought it from a pluming engineers near to where i live, going by that way tuesday after noon will call into them and find out what it is called, thats if i can get out and about as snowed in at present.

what you could use is Asbestolux as its not got any asbestos in it,its safe.its used in narrow boats around the fire area.
------------- Think this year is to follow old meet friends for 2014.
If you cant do someone a good turn, don`t do them a bad one,its nice to be nice you know, and little things mean much more later in life.

Hi Brittle, out to day and found the plumbbers shop, the board is called Superflex.
bad news is that city plumbing no longer sell it in any of thier shops through out the UK, though some of thier branches may have some old stock left, worth a try. asked assistant if any other companies sell that product, said a company called PTS but did not know what initals stood for,so not much help there.and if one plumber chain has herd of it so might the rest, sorry not much help on this.
