I am about to carry out some work on my Appachi Four Campervan which will entail removing the exterior trim which runs along the corner of the roof and side. Ideally, I would like to purchase a new trim as the one fitted is aluminium and will distort when I remove it. If this means buying new trims for both sides this will be ok.

HI Paul welcome to the forum

Is it an assumption that you will need new trims or are you just taking a precaution in being able to source them before you undertake the task in question.

The first thing i would do is carefuly remove the rubber insert in the trim them remove the screws holding the trim in place (or drill out rivets or rounded screws).

Then i would play a heat gun over an edge of the trim and carefully peel the trim off the edge until it was removed from the motorhome  with a little elbow grease you can remove the origional sealer and then you have a perfectly good trim to use again saving you a tidy little sum towards other things on your motorhome.

If however you need new trims go onto the directory on this site and you will find lots of different suppliers for most thing s you are likely to need.

If you are doing this work to cure damp issues may i suggest you go onto the caravan repair section in this forum  and look up the wizard he has a brill site on repairs and the information you can gather is quite unique.

I do hope this has been of some help to you and do please keep us all informed as to your progress and if i can be of help give us a shout.

Delboy

Hi   took off a lot of my trim and also expected to have to replace with new, especially around the over cab bed.  I found the trim a lot more robust than expected and it all went back fine in fact its exactly as dellboy says.

the only advice that I would offer is to use the best sealants and stainless screws are a must     good luck
