In your position Sandra, first off I would strip the switch and see if there are wires running both in and out of the switch. If there are wires running out to ?, then perhaps the direction of these wires would give you a general pointer as to where this unit is situated.

Failing that, I would turn on this switch and then check every 12v applience, light etc in the van and then turn off the switch and do the same.

If nothing changes then it is probably a unit that has been installed in the past and is no longer there.
IE, 12v TV Aerial Booster, a Motorised Step or a Ventilation Fan in one of the Skylights.

However, until you know 100% just what this switch was for and that it is no longer needed, just switch it off and leave it alone. You never know what will appear 3 months down the road that you never thought of before .

In a MH it is useually very easy to follow where wires go, as the above post sugests, follow the wire. The fact that the orange light comes on means that it it connected to 12VDC

You've probably already looked..but there isn't an external 12v socket tucked away under the side of the 'van somewhere is there? (..or at least signs that there may have been one?)..

If everything you've got,is accounted for and works as it should,then it should follow(?)that it must be from something that has either been removed(..in which case you'd think that there would be signs)or there's something which is still to be discovered..

Just a silly point..but does this switch look to be in the sort of place that an "after market" switch would be fitted?....

 It's just that workshops don't tend to spend to much time ferreting wires down through panels,along existing cable runs etc.If they can get away with it they'll tend to just bung the switch on a bed base or side of a wardrobe etc. 

Of cause,it may've been a keen DIYer..?
