Hi

Just bought a motorhome intending to use caravan club sites with it.  Any advice or tips for a new motorhome owner?

Welcome, I wish you all the very best for your travels in your new home. The first thing I do when I change my van is, place a notepad and pen on the dashboard or somewhere handy and everytime you think of something you need to do or something you have forgotten to pack. Make a note on your notepad and that way when you get home from your first pratice weekends, you will have a list of things to fix/install. Do not be too adventouous for the first couple of weekends away as I normally find that there are always teething problems with a new van, don't let these spoil your fun.

 We have found the stuff you can buy in rolls from the pound shop etc is invaluable to cut to size and put on flat surfaces. thius means you don't have to keep putting things away in cupboards etc when you're on the move. Also good for rolling out on floor for keeping shopping bags in place etc . What sort have you got?

Our first one was stolen so really recommend some anti thft devices appropriate to your needs.We now have a secutity post at entrance to our drive ans steering wheel lock, one of those big yellow ones that fit over wheel. Helps our peace of mind!!

enjoy your self, there are many other good sites out there apart from the caravan club, I find them rather to regulated, (and before anyone goes of on a tangent about the CC I am a member and do use the sites)

Do not be afraid to pick up and go, take a well stocked tool kit, (as mentioned above you will find things need to settle in), but do not let that stop you going afar. When we bought our first MH back in 2003, picked it up new from the dealers on the Monday, had remote central locking and alarm fitted on the Wednesday and on Thursday night we where on Portsmouth docks waitng for the ferry to Spain.
