Leave Blackpool alone. If you don't like it don't come there are plenty of places to park and I have many friends that are disabled and have no problems parking in Blackpool. The town is always full of holiday makers who love the place...millions of them. We don't just have a sea front have any of you would dislike Blackpool ever visited Stanley Park, Marton Mere or the Zoo. I've been to many other seaside resorts and yes some are beautiful but some like Skegness and Morecambe are really run down. We have 3 piers and some beautiful building...the Tower, The Grand and winter Garden. So if you have nothing better to say then don't say anything....rant over.

We used to love Blackpool. We almost bought a B & B up there a few years ago. We loved the Zoo, the Marton Mere camp site, the sea life centre, pleasure beach, tower, piers....the lot. It had something for all of us, and we were a very large family group (getting on for over 30 of us now). There was something for everyone. Even though I often stayed in the van, there was always something going on, trams going by, people dressed up being silly, making me laugh, horses and traps going up and down etc. I could sit and people watch for hours whilst the others were in the fair, the town, on the piers etc. It was easy for us all to get to. Then along came this 'no motorhomes on the sea front' rule, and shoved me to a car park with no view at all. I wasn't going to spend my holiday looking at other cars and nothing else. After that, we never went back, and there are now even more of us. We all loved it, but this destroyed it for us.
I appreciate your friends who are disabled may be able to find places to park, but are they all driving motorhomes, and have issues with getting out of it like me? Not all disabled folk are merely wheelchair users in a car.

Tough question - don't think it is right to exclude folks with BBs and MHs; just need to police it so that there's no overnight parking and perhaps a time limit on each stay; that time limit might be longer for BBs with MHs or campervans than for cars (say). I don't have a MH or campervan (I tent) but for sixteen years caring for my elderly parents who did have BBs, I know the pleasure they derived from just being able to see/hear/view others enjoying themselves and a bit of freedom was so precious. There is absolutely no joy being stuck in some town centre car park and the disabled should not be treated in such a way.
Having said that, the MH fraternity really have got to look at the behaviour of the small (sadly growing in my experience) group of owners/hirers who seem to think that because they've got a MH, rules don't apply. Even more depressing is that some BB MH owners don't consider other BB drivers. We have two disabled parking bays outside our island's only pharmacy and we've had a BB MH owner park there for over 10 hours blocking both bays. Whoever this person was, they did not give tuppence for any other disabled driver, resident or not, who might need to pick up medicines or other medical supplies.
I am not saying anyone who's posted on here would be so inconsiderate, in fact most posters have indicated their views on right or wrong.
Tragically, as with many areas of life these days, courtesy and respect for others has gone out the window!

I agree with you ficklejade. Courtesy and respect are just not part of life anymore. I sadly even find that on this forum! Some people on here are really quick to jump down my throat about motorhome issues and can be really hurtful at times.
My PVC is my vehicle and I am always driving to the best care and respect other road users. I even drove at 20 miles an hour for 2 miles behind a large group of cyclists as I didn't deem it safe to overtake them! It is a minority of MH drivers who spoil it for everyone else.
My mum lives near Largs on the Clyde Coast, and before Seamill, there's a lovely couple of parking areas you can park at, for a good walk along the beach. Though I've just noticed that the council have put up height restriction barriers for the summer, so now I can't take my mum and kids there! I have NO intention of parking overnight (which is why I assume they've put up those restrictions) - just to enjoy a couple of hours walk and a cuppa in the van. It's such a pity.
I would also point out that people who hire MH's might not be the best road users because they're simply not used to driving such a big vehicle. It's becoming more common for families to hire the big 6 berth MH's and they have no experience driving them. So perhaps we should give them a chance to get used to it, before we blanket criticise all the MH renters. It's actually the fault of the company who hire them out, if the renters don't know the rules of driving/parking!
I'm fed up with people thinking I either can't drive my van because I'm female or because I shouldn't be trying to park it somewhere.

Weegmack, Portencross has no gantries. Walk to the castle and along the coast to Hunterston (as you probably know!) And motorhomes stay overnight at Irvine beach car park beyond the pilot house - not "wild camping" (that only applies to tents, says the legislation) but "free camping".
But most important - Keep on waving!!
