Please be a bit more specific. How long has the water been in the tank? When was it last cleaned physically ie. wiped out. Where did you fill it? Water tanks are normally filled from fresh water taps which are mains water. might smell a bit chloriny but it is certainly of drinking water quality.
Try some of the water purifiers the caravanners use in their mobile tubs, seems to work for them.
I Melton my tanks and taps at the startof the season and have no problems.
