We were away in the Mh last weekend and we struggled to light one of the gas rings...

It would light,however even after keeping the button depressed for a good 10sec+,on release,it would just go out again!...

(..The other two hobs lit and stayed lit pretty much straight away...)

...it did eventually stay lit after about a dozen tries..

(..and as it hasn't got any inbuilt ignition,we have to use a seperate "spark gun" and/or matches...)

Anyone any ideas what may be  amiss?

Edit:Well having checked the Leisure spares site for likely looking components,it looks like it's likely to be the "thermocouple"(..having said that,I've just tried the hob and it lit first time!... )

Yes it has got the "probe" next to the burner ring(..in a similar position to where an ignition source would be).

...however since that spell when it refused to play ball a couple of weekends ago,every time I've tried it since,it has lit first time!!     

I dont know whether your hob burner has a plate on top secured by two Philips screws .

If it has take the plate off and you will see how clean the actual burner is. they can get all sorts in the inside which will cause the burner not to burn properly.
