Hi, As you might see form the thread below Im noe the owner of a Talbot express Autohomes. Its been left standing for 5 years so although its got an MOT it needs a damn good service. It also needs some lino instead of some grubby cream (!) carpet and the roof lining is hanging down..you get the picture! Can anyone recommend anyone local to me in Gloucester? Many thanks, Glad
Gladys, the engine should be easy enough to get serviced.I know there are several people in bristol (used to live there) who specialise in peugot/citroen service,so I would imagine a look in the yellow pages would be in order. You would be better off with a small independent specialist,if you can find one.Sounds like you have an XUD engine which was widely fitted in peugots and citroens, albeit with some add ons, until recently.
The caravan company I used to use up your way was :
golden castle caravans
cheltenham rd east
churchdown,glos

01452 713311
....I dont know how helpful that will be to you,but they may be able to recommend someone else if they cant do what you need.
Ive found Motor Home Medics at Staverton (by Swanbrook) who are small and independant and dont seem fazed by the mention of a Talbot! she is booked in for a service next week.
Well Im now £290 lighter! due to full service today...yikes.... She's driving alot lighter as she now has 60 in the tyres instead of 40. The floor is springy and they think due to previous damp but nothing going on now. The main guy Martin was very good. He said I shouldnt spent any more money on her until Ive used her for a year and decide she's for me. He said the spare tyre is gone and although the rest have good tread they will probable have some weakness inherent in the side walls and maybe if Im driving her on my own I may risk a blow out at some stage...so as they are only £50-60 each they suggested I think about replacing all of them.
My first trip away is 3-4 July in the Lakes so I'll get it sorted for then. Weekend after is Cornwall to see family. also got booked Beachy Head for 7 august, as well as Port elliott Festival 23-25 July. So it looks like I'll get some quality time with Ness. Im alreday feeling much more confident driving her...less tension in the neck and shoulders!
