Hi there fellow campers

Please can anybody help me to decide. I am looking to buy a Nissan Elgrand. I have never had a campervan before and wondered if anyone can give me any useful information.

I am looking to buy a 4 berth campervan, not too long (around about 15ft long) which is reliable and in good condition. If you have any recomendations I would be really greatful if you could help me.

Thanks x

Am I missing something here? A Nissan Elgrand is a Japanese import people carrier not a campervan.

I presume what you really want is a van conversion of which there are several, with many variations of layout. You should have a look around to find a layout that suits you as everyone has differing preferences and requirements.

You could also try a Mazda Bongo/Ford Freda (same vehicle) - have a look at http://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/marketplace.php?req_time=03062010183013 . Quite a few in the For Sale section of the website and details of some retailers.

only if its really for 2 ..it may say 4berth on the box but in reality they're all far too small (bongos/granvias/elgrands)....the elgrand is superior to the bongo in that you can walk between cab and rear but its just as small and cramped....there's been plenty of discussion on here before ....run a search ...

Thanks for your info Blatchater. The Elgrand I was looking at in the dealers was imported from Japan, and according to the salesman, was converted in Japan to a camper prior to its export to England.

Also cheers for the other info John and Jimsmimm. Will do a search. I've not used this website before, how do I run a search on previous discussions?

The Elgrands had a club too, google for it. I would never have one for 4 people, yes travel in it and use a tent alongside or one of those annexes but way too cramped for 4.

Watch the road tax, I think the recent imports are on the highest band, ie £400 plus per annum.

Hi - trying to find all this discussion but only seem able to find two and yours is one of them - am I going wrong with my search? Nissan Elgrand doesn't seem to bring up as much as I'd hoped for.
