Hi,

we are awaitng our first camper having caravaned for 20 years and went to insure our new baby to discover that you cannot have your no claims on the motor home and car.Does anyone know if any companies would split your no claims between camper and car or is it better to put no claims onto camper and start to build no calims on car or vice versa?

thanks in anticipation of a soultion

I found that if i put the car insurance in my wifes name for the car, i could then get the full N/C on the motorhome. we both got the max that way. Mind you we both drive. hope that helps.

when i started to insure the wifes car, i waited for the insurance company on my car to send me a renewal notice stating the amount of no clains then used this to start another insurance for her proving i had my no claims then renewed my car with my normal insureance company. then you have 2 policys with your no claims on.

You may find if you insure your motorhome & your car with the same company, the n/c will be allowed on both. I have found this with Saga in the past.

We use Safeguard and they have a system of 'mirrored no-claims' where you do get a discount based on your car no-claims. When I finally sold my car I transferred the car no-claims onto the camper which reduced it even more.

Can definitely recommend them, the cover includes Europe and full breakdown at home & abroad.

Just tried this with a 2nd car on Churchill multicar and they wouldn't accept it. Said no one would.

I have been caravanning for the last 10 years, the tow car was my works company car. Because of the company car, I had not built any No Claims Bonus at all. I have just collected my first Motothome, purchased from Brownhills Newark, they recommended me to get in touch with Caravan Guard. I gave them all the details and they automatically gave me 4 years No Claims Bonus WOW. I had been insured with the caravan club for the last eight years with no claims at all. They quoted me £750. Caravan Guard price is £321 a lot of difference. I would certainly contact Caravan Guard.

I only had problems insuring a car when I went to a local broker. A few phone calls, and I got my car insured with the same NCB as my motorhome. It's just plain greed - trying to get more money from you. After all, you can't drive both vehicles at once!

Not a problem now as we've retired, so the wife has the car and I have the 'van. Insurance with AXA through the CC is pretty cheap at around £150 fully comp + protected.
Car (VW Golf plus) is a similar amount.

Avoid Adrian Flux insurance. They use a claims assistance company.

Both are a bunch of amateurs...have cancelled all my policies with them due to issues dealing with a claim I had against a third party who damaged my caravan.

Adrian Flux are last port of call for the otherwise uninsurable driver/vehicle so thats the only reason to use them really.
