Finally caught it last night - I keep trying to watch this this program but I lost patience with it about 3 or 4 years ago. Did the ridiculous antics coincide with the onset of middle aged grumpiness I wonder?
The funniest line last night was James May in the Spar shop.
" I don't need the washers for dinner, I just like them"
Is it some PC Thing not to like top gear. Or are people unable to see the programme for what it is. A bit of a tongue in cheek dig at the anal holier than though PC brigade. Lighten up campers.

I'm about as unPC as it gets, but to be honest Top gear has lost its appeal. Some of last years programs were okay, but so far this year its been crap.

...Good post!
..and after all, there's usually a shed load of costume dramas/Midsomer Murders/Wycliff/Sherlock Holmes type things for the "old grumpies" to busy themselves with..
Back on the subject of Top Gear, has anyone noticed how in this series they're using walkie-talkies in their vehicles, instead of hands free mobile phones?..do you think that there's a reason for it?..maybe walkie-talkies aren't covered by the ban in mobs, whilst driving..? or perhaps it's due to some bbc policy..?

Yes I have noticed it and not happy about it. I assume its some sort of get around for the illegal use of phones without setting the wrecks they use up with hands free.
during hte past number of series they mix using Hand-free and walkie-talkies/CB radios.
Two examples of hands free i can think of is the Veyron v Plane and the GTR v Bullet train.
If they wern't allowed walkie talkies then they would of got rid ages ago as someone at BBC would of noticed.
Walkie talkies are not covered by the Mobile phone thing; nor are CB or Ham radio
I saw the programme and all I can say is that I am B. glad that I was not on the road at the same time as they were. How they didn't cause an accident is a miracle
All i could think of after watching this moronic sensless dribble is the clean up bill afterwards, firstly Hammond sets his effort alight on a C&C site, then they push Clarksons effort off the cliff onto a site of beauty,(Clarkson very badly pretends he doesn't know whats happening) who cleans up the mess and at what cost? good use of licence payers money NOT!
Sorry guys, grumpy old git or not to me it's pointless and not really funny, lets see constructive car reviews, even a proper review on budget motorhomes would have been really beneficial and of interest to many, (what you could buy and expect for 10k for example) think they have lost the plot big time myself.

So,are we saying that by using them, they are getting around the regs(law) them...?
Also,do you think that they must have to get police clearance and maybe an escort vehicle,to film some of the items?
(...if that Citroen had've gone over,it would've made a right old mess!)
...likewise the holdups caused by the electric car they came up with a while back..I can't believe that they don't get clearance, before they do these things..

You could still be done for driving without due care and attention, we always had hands free controls for Ham radio in a car.
Vince (G7RXE though its been a while since I used it)
