Hi,
Our little campervan doesn't have the "posh" water outlets from the sink that we have seen elsewhere. When we bought it the dealer said it just runs out onto the ground which no-one worries about.
We took him at his word but have since found out that it is not good to do this in most campsites! (Although one we stayed at asked us to tip it in the hedge to keep them watered.)
We bought a green waste water holder - just a simple jerry can with strategically placed holes (!) from Go Outdoors in the hope that the water would run into it with the help of an attached tube and we could dispose of it in the preferred way. Unfortunately it is too high to fit under the van!
We have looked at the specially made ones but they are so big and our little van doesn't have room for lots of stuff. (Also they are pretty expensive to just empty reasonably clean sink water away!)
Does anyone have a campervan and have a better solution. The bowl we had underneath wasn't the best idea and slopped out before we got to the disposal point and needs frequent emptying because of the weight/volume.
Well we have a Granvia but not a camper, only use it as day van, what you could do is to get a gerry can type container, put a round hole up near the top on one of the large flat sides. Get cork stopper to suit the hole, It's not like you'd be traveling with grey water, you'd get rid before leaving site yes.
When emptying keep bung on top side, should work you should'nt have too much water to get rid of
we had a 'Bongo' and a container came with the van, it has two openings, one on the top and one in the side, you lay it flat, run your tube into it and when it's full screw the cap back on and take it to the waste site, try contacting ' Manchester Campers ' he has a web site.
I know it's sometimes handy to have the water at hand in a campervan, but to be honest we hardly ever use our on-board water tank. I have found that we generally work with the tap on-site and by filling a large water bottle and/or kettle for tea/coffee and I have a dishwasher who uses the on-site sinks if there is one. We usually fill the tank at the beginning of our break or holiday and then don't bother - whether it's laziness or not I don't know but it works for us. Means we don't have water to dispose of (usually). We have a bongo so same idea as the granvia. Also better on the fuel consumption. If and when we change vans (probably a granvia next time as good bongos are becoming scarce) I won't be fussed about on-board water tank. Sorry, I've just realised this will be no help to you at all LOL.
The oil drainer did the job. Fits under the van. Takes a couple of sink loads, which is all we need really for hand washing or the occasional washing up load if there are no facilities on site.
Small enough to fit under the rock and roll bed so no carrying problems as with the bigger units taking up too much room.
And didn't cost £40-£50 which we really couldn't afford at this time.
Brilliant...... thanks a lot.... I think of you every time I take the plug out of the sink
