I bought a standard home security camera from macro to use as a reversing camera on my motorhome..
works great ....but for one thing..the view to rear is shown reversed( a bit unnerving as it looks like you're being overtaken up the hardshoulder)..does any techi lecci out there know how to reverse the polarity...?I'm sure I read many years ago that this could be done..the camera works great and the monitor sits nicely on the dash. it is water proof
Reversing the polarity will not work it will probably blow it up.....I think what you mean is that you have a mirror image. As far as I know there is nothing on the market that will convert the image to "real time".
I suspect that Slaphead has a normal image but wants a mirror image, like in a rear view mirror. I know some of the cameras that are sold for the purpose can be changed to whichever you prefer but don't think it would be possible with this one. Suppose it's a case of getting used to it.

I agree that the obvious way to get a mirror image is to view it through a mirror. Would it not be possible to view the monitor through a mirror to avoid bad visibilty when it is raining? Perhaps a stick-on rear view mirror on the windscreen, you could even use a 'vanity mirror' which would give a better aspect ratio.
My husband sends me out with a brolly. Works a treat he says. I'm grateful to be able to perform these little tasks as he may otherwise leave me at home.
John, I think some of us missed the fact that your 'van' is a caravan, I suppose because when this thread started we were on about motorhomes, sorry for that, we should look sideways occasionally.
I use a much cheaper option - I get one of the kids to go to the back of the van & look out of the window for me, they shout stop if I get too close to anything. They prefer this to what they used to have to do when we had a caravan - i.e. stand outside in the pouting rain. Also less chance of me pinning them to the wall as nearly happened once when I didn't hear the "Stop" because all my car windows were shut.
