Would like to hear from anyone who lives in MH permanently.
I have a job interview in a nice country area and if I am successful, myself and my husband plan to live in MH.
Still keeping our house and leaving grown up sons to look after themselves, popping back periodically to see what state the house is in!!
We have a Eldiss Autoquest 320. It has everything working and I love it.
Want to hear about costs, and anything negative that I may not have thought about!
Has anyone negotiated prices with site owners ect.
Looking forward to lots of comments!!
Anne

Pro's

A wonderfull, peacefull, comparatively SAFE life, away from the majority of mainstream society (ie yobs, louts, hassle, litter etc, etc, etc!)

Cons.

It can get flippin nippy through the winter, anything other than a 5th wheel or RV is hardwork due to either lack of tanks or very small tanks which need filling/emptying every other day and dubious insulation qualities when it gets REALLY cold!

(Minus 17.5 in Cheshire last winter.........NICE!  :-)

You might get "cabin fever" in a comparatively small Euro motorhome. Summer is lovelly cos the blinds are all open and, generally, you want to spend as much time in the deckchair as possible. BUT, come winter, when the blinds are all shut, it suddenly becomes a VERY small space.

There's a very VERY big difference between weekending, fortnighting and Fulltiming. Sure you'll cope? Being on top of each other 24/7 with no where to hide?

Wifey and I are EXTREMELY lucky in that we simply dont row, she just does as she's told!  (dont tell her I said that! Hahahahaha) It's usually other people who get one or the other of us in a mood, not each other. Not everyone is that lucky, no matter how good a marriage or partnership you have. Worth thinking about, tho', in your case, you've done the ABSOLUTE best thing by keeping your property so financially you're covered AND you always have somewhere to return to if the lifestyle DOESN'T suit.

Started Fulltiming in an '89 Elddis Autostratus (whilst we looked for another house-no chain then :-)     )

Decided to stay out but Euro-van too small / illequiped for British winters so bought 1st RV - 1994 Gulfstream Sunsport.

Changed after 4 years for dream RV with more space. 1999 Georgieboy Landau 3301 with slideout.

Downsized to twin axle caravan (2007 Abbey Spectrum 535) after 4 years due to horrendously expensive engine faults on RV which left us homeless for 2 weeks (TWICE!) but lasted just 12 months in a caravan.

WONDERFULL caravan but simply not good enough for Fulltiming (IMHO)

Currently using American 5th Wheel (Kountrylite by Calder-imported to Edinburgh) towed by Nissan Navara. DEFINATELY the BEST of all worlds. All the size / spec/ comfort of an A Class RV but with a comparatively sensible 2.5 Litre pick up for sightseeing, commuting, etc.

HTH

Zaskar (11 year Fulltimer, still loving it and still working for a living, permanently based in the UK)

hi zaskar.. and we dont have to tow a car behind. a 5er takes up less room than a car and caravan .and is more manouverable than a big caravan. can carry m,bikes in the back .and is cheaper on the ferries than a normal car n caravan or camper. . keep up the good work. cheers alan.
