I have a Fiamma Zip awning (3.5 meters) for my motorhome.  The first time I used it, it took a long time to erect as the instructions supplied were a bit vague.  I can now put it up in about 20 minutes though.  Its weatherproof and gives good cover in poor weather.  In strong winds it can be noisy and you need to ensure that it is well secured to the ground.  I bought extra plastic "feet" for the legs of the awning and extra "storm" guys.  It is very well made but would I buy one again?  Not sure really as it is an expensive addition, is bulky to store and transport and we do not always need to use it.

I hope this is a balanced response.

I use a Fiamma 3.0 privacy room on my Motorhome. Takes about 1/2 hour to put up.It is well made and is waterproof. A bit noisey in strong wind, I have invested in some extra storm guys as well.

A very expensive piece of kit, and yes it is heavy, but I use it most of the time to sleep my dogs in.

Got the omnistor, easy to put up once you done it a couple of times, but really helps if you use, duct tape,Where would you need the Gaffer Tape or is it something you find out once the "room" is assembled?

 glass lifters - what are glass lifters used for? 

 and loads of bungees, storm strap x 2 and don,t forget any bits !

Ours is the type where the two back poles are split in the middle, depending on the lay of the land, we hold them down to the ground with the fiamma  " horseshoe plates "  then tape the two halves of the pole together, then put glass lifters adjacent to the poles and then wrap a bungee round them both which stops the poles and also the room "moving".

We also have the windjammer thingys which the wife has put press studs on the corners to make more windproof,

Interesting reading from the above comments, we have a omnistor safari room [ clamp on type not zip ] Its easy to erect and takes both of us about 30 to 40 minutes.It came with dvd on how to set up.

As for its robustness well we were in the south of france in june and had just set up when that terrible storm came. Widespread flooding 80 klm winds etc, not the best start to our holiday. However with the help of a storm strap the safari room and awning were fantastic.

ps Ours is 3.5 metres and weighs 25 kilo
