We swapped to one of the lightweight Calor propane bottles at our last refill..and I was just wondering how accurate people have found the little gauge to be..?

(..we haven't used it enough yet for it to register anything..and our last 6kg lasted best part of a year anyway...!  )

Only emptied a couple....however:-

They read full when full, then empty when empty......with nothing inbetween!!!!!

Not too accurate I think

They would probably argue that,in those two instances,they're spot on!

Mine has been showing empty for quite a while, however no one seems to have told the gas bottle which continues to work perfectly .   Gas bottle 1  Gauge 0

Dont think Calor would ever claim that the indicator is accurate, but just an idea of how much liquid is in the cylinder.

I think the only way to get a good idea how much gas is left is to wiegh the cylinder and calculate from the given weight of the empty cylinder, which is really not practical when on tour.

If possible always carry 2 cylinders, and when 1 runs out change over and make sure you exchange the empty asap. IMO these auto change over devices could leave you with no gas with unreliable guages.

If you have to do a change over in the pouring rain, it does have a tendancy to focus the mind to get it replaced as quickley as possible.

I prefere sites without the expense of EHU and carrying 2 six kilo bottles which  can soon be used up particuly in the colder months, in the course of a year.

as said by previous posters, the gauge shows either empty or full, which you can tell by the weight anyway, as we have plenty of payload and not worried about the weight swapped back to the older ones, a lot cheaper too

I had on Gaslow cylinder and it worked fine also I had Calor as an expensive stand by.

Recently I was lucky enough to find a single Gaslow cylinder in a dealers heap , Purchased it for not much money  and then began looking to use it as a Number 2 cylinder. Could not find any comments on the internet so I made some inquires at a Gas fitting supplier:-

 "Autogas 2000" at Carlton Mynott near Thirsk most help full and said "its not a problem how many do you want." 

 I had a run over to Carlton Mynott and the cost was about £11  plus the extra pipes which would have been needed if I had bought a new cylinder.

Now we are self sufficient with the gas 22 litres I can fill it any where there's an Auto Gas Pump A lot lot cheaper than Calor . I am already in pocket with the first bottle and pipes ect. and it will only take a few fills to breakeven and then I am laughing all the way to the bank.

We are nice and warm now , and long for the Spring but will be out sometime soon the next few weeks !
