And whatever you try out, give it a real good thrashing - get it really moving, and note how quick it shifts. As, itll be 'empty' of all your payload, so needs to be like the proverbial off a stick when stripped bare, otherwise, when its 'full' it'll bumble along like an arthritic sloth.
(a bit like ours actualy. - the speed, or lack of, is a real shame.)
The main problem with car parking spaces and a larger motorhome is not so much the length, but the width. Many parking spaces are barely wide enough for a car, never mind a motorhome.
My campervan is a SWB Transit van conversion which fits fine in a space - but I often end up getting in and out via the side sliding door 'cos there's not enough room to open the driver's or passenger doors - and a coachbuilt is generally wider than a van conversion.
Not a problem in a quiet car park, but can be a nuisance if it's busy and you have to go in between two other vehicles.

If you can't see the light at the end of the tunnel, just keep going till you go round the bend.
To Mick S. Very valid comment, but if you can't afford the high power stuff, I suppose you are st.ffed and what is the haste anyway, except if you have to race to get the best parking space - even if you are booked!
To Bordercaz - I manage3 to over come this - I have a rear exit!
To Pepe63 - The only weay out is to trail a light trailer
Thanks for all the replies - makes me feel welcome - I got a slow 1993 Fiat Elddis with 76,000 miles on the clock in the end at a price I could afford No rust or damp.I plan to go touring and just to take it easy.
Hi there,
This year we changed from a caravan (after nearly 20 years and 5 different caravans) to a motorhome.
It measures 6.5 metres and 3 m. height.
We love it. We take our bikes and choose sites that are within cycling distance of shops etc. On a 3 week tour of France we didn't ever take the MH off site. We didn't stay anywhere longer than 5 nights and we used the bikes every day. We came back fitter and found that there were loads of little places we just wouldn't have found if we'd had the car and caravan.
We do supermarket stops en route and park at the far end of car parks where it's quiet. I would recommend going for one a little bigger than your immediate needs for comfort.
By the way, we are two women in our 50s and after brief initial nerves we are now both confident and happy driving and reversing it.
It's also brilliant for days out so we use it more than we did the caravan. We loved our caravan but this suits us better at the moment.
go for it....I had a Mazda Bongo this time last year but found it too restrictive for me and moved to the Autosleeper Clubman which I loved but it was only a 2 berth, have recently got a Swift 590 which is 4/5 berth and love it, it drives like a car and is sooooo roomy.....off for NY in it and roll on spring!!!
