Hi all can anyone tell me what this red ignition key is for. It came with fiat ducato ... thanks

With some cars you get a red key that is used to programme replacement keys, if you lose it you cannot get any more keys for the car.

You must not use it as a normal ignition key.

Bernie is right - it's the master key from which others could be made.

Don't lose that red key whatever year do. You did at one time need to change all locks on the vehicle if you lost that and others. Not sure of the score now but don't lose it!

I had a ducato without a red key and an immobiliser fault meant (for a while) it looked as if id have to have it recovered to a Fiat dealer to program new keys, our lad has a punto with ONLY a red key, no harm has come yet after 6 months use.

a red key simply overrides the immobiliser 

id now expect 2 black keys and a red key with any Fiat (PSA maybe too?)
