Hi all

I have Dometic fridge freezer, AES lll RM7505 installed in the motorhome, wondering if anyone would know how low the temp gets in the freezer section. mine seems to struggle to get below 'zero'. tried on gas and 230v.

If you Google it, you're not alone.
Are you sure it's not just the fact that it's too cold in your van - some freezers don't work unless their surroundings are warm enough.

Hi John

Thought of that one, we did have food in the freezer, which seems to have thawed out.

Absorbtion fridges get worse as they get older, sometimes removing them & turning upside down to mix up the coolant can revive them a bit.

I believe that I might have a circuit board problem

With 230v connected indication led's are normal but temp in Freezer is ambient temp. heater on circuit board does not seem to be getting 230v.

Deselect AES and then select gas, still nothing happening, I waited for 45 minutes.

Removed 230v supply cable, [disconnected under bed] and then gas system kicked in and chilled freezer to -8c. checked after 2 hours......temp was -4c !!! and the gas system seemed to dormant. still no caution light !

Looks like a visit to a specialist required.

Hi Martin, If it doesn't work on gas i would think it's the 3 different gasses that make up the absorption system at fault ! This is a specialist repair not a normal refrigerant problem.! Can you see the pilot lit ?

you buy winter plates for the outside vents in caravan and motorhomes ,as noted above fridges need to have a particular temperature difference between the cold side and warm side ,too hot it cannot work and too cold the same

Hi,

I don't think its the same problem as you are having, but we did have a problem earlier in the summer with our Fridge/Freezer not getting cold enough, and we found the problem was the 12 volt system fuse had blown.

So while we were traveling around even though the FF was set to 12 volt it wasn't working in actual fact it was doing the opposite getting warmer, and then when we got onto the next site we would just plug in the hook-up and move the switch to AC without checking, and only noticed it wasn't quiet a cold as we expected later in the day/evening, we originally put it down to the outside warm/hot temperatures, and it took a few days to realise what was/wasn't actually happening.

Hope that helps someone.

I have a friend who had problems with his fridge on a Swift Motorhomeit was not   cooling   enough on 12 volt he measured the voltage drop at the fridge and found the volt drop was nearly 6 voltsfrom the battery 12volt he cured the problem by rewiring the 12 volt supply with a larger current carriyng cable PROBLEMS SOLVED ANOTHER CASE OF SWIFT SKIMPING ON QUALITY

I hope you Swift Owner find this useful.

Sounds like you have a problem with the installation of it, get the Dometic engineer out to have a look at it. They are very good
