Hi.we have one alarmed key fobwhich we were issued with when we bought the van but would like two for when we want to go out seperately we have been quoted £100 for the key and then need to contact the alarm suppliers namely cobra to programe the key which god only knows what the charge would be.engineer surmised around £50.Anyone knows where we could get it done cheaper?
£100 doesnt seem bad nowadays. We were quoted £80 for a spare fob key 6 years ago. You would think though, when you are spending 20, 40 60k on a vehicle, that a second key would be standard. In fact id have insisted on it if ours had only the one with it.
And so would i !! . How on earth can a dealer supply a vehicle with just one key nowdays? I definetely would go back and ask for them to supply the second key, and i would not accept any excuses.
not saying this will work .when my son broke a fob key for my car the dealer wanted a arm and a leg for a new key .i got my local independent cobbler /key cutter to cut me one he uses a computer program to get the details of old key .
------------- do it to day it might be too late tomorow
Late Fiat based motorhomes are bad new when it comes to replacement Keys and Fobs and can only be obtained from the dealer as they come pre cut and part programmed to the Chassis Number. The new Three button fobs are £155 + vat for the remote and key. plus £38.95 for the immobiliser code plus programming. Do not buy keys from ebay they will not work.
