I am planning to take my motorhome (2008 Chausson Flash08) to London in February. The site I am considering is within the LEZ and I notice that Motorhomes between 2.5 - 3.5 tonnes will need to be registered by Jan 2012.
What is not clear is whether I need to do anything now. Will vehicles like mine be ignored until 2012 or do I have to notify tfl? I am pretty sure that the vehicle would be exempt as meeting EU emission standards anyway but the penalties for getting it wrong are high. Has anyone had any experience of this?

The Transport for London website on the LEZ should be looked at :

http://www.tfl.gov.uk/roadusers/lez/default.aspx

Look at "Vehicles Affected" and "Compliance Check" and enter your Registration Number. With a 2008 vehicle you should have no problem. Jan 2012 is when the scheme starts to take effect so if you going next month it does not apply anyway so no point in worrying about registering. I think you only have to register for after Jan 12 if your vehicle is shown as not complying and you have mechanical work carried out to make it comply. Tfl need to check that this is so by the Registration process.

Cannot tell you more as I could not get some of the website downloads to work. Hopefully just a Saturday problem.

The "compliance" link is working now...but once you've entered in your reg,you have to scroll down the page to see the results(..I entered my reg 3 times until I fathomed that out!  )

Just been on London transport web site quote ( All light goods vehicles produced after 2002 Are assumed to be Euro class 3 ) so you are OK if your van was built after 2002. I presume?

My 2004 kontiki is non compliant in January 2012 so think the post all vehicles built after 2002 is not correct.Anybody know my best course of action to remedy?

Bill.
