Hi, just wondered.....

those talbot express flavour chunky motorhomes of 90-94 vintage. I have looked at a few secondhand recently and some of them are quite modern in the back, specially when the current owner has spent money, reupholstered, etc.

For what they cost I was thinking about buying one just to use in the summer holidays as an alternative to renting. Sell it on or dispose of it when finished!

Does anyone on here own one of these? I am not sure about the engine/vehicle side, they look quite oldschool!

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

I have one and for what they cost they are very good, mines a 1984 but for some reason its got a very modern interiour?

They are not fast, but they are good on fuel, all the gear linkage issues that cause the stick to be all over the place can be sorted.

Google Talbotoc and you should find the owners club, its free and has all the info you need.

I assume you know the Talbot, Ducato, J25 and Citrone Relay are all the same van

Yeah i had one and loved ours 20Ltr petrol 26/28 mpg,not all that fast,,but who is in a hurry when in one going on holidays or weekends out.and towed a little trike to run around on.now I tow a car.also a couple of pick in my gallery.

We bought a 1992 Talbot express a year ago with 46K miles on the clock.Its in unbelievable condition ,we use it for day trips/overnight stays/weekends.Two kids 12 & 10 so o.k. for short breaks,a bit cramped for longer stays.We looked at v.w. more value in the talbots.Plenty of choice on Ebay,though we found ours on preloved,good luck.

We used to have a 2 ltr petrol Excalibur . I think it was a mid 80's coachbuilt. Apart from the obvious , that is looking out for rust on bonnet, wings and around the windscreen, if you can find a good one, they are not a bad motorhome. We loved ours travelling with 2 small children, bikes, awning etc and got 24 mpg

The only trouble we had with ours was due to petrol starvation in really really hot conditions climbing long hills in France. A quick wrap with cooking foil made a shield and cured the problem.

Ours did not feel underpowered and the gear change was fine. We actually towed a Suzuki Alto on a 2 wheel bogie with ours and a 350 mile trip to Cornwall (amongst other trips !)  proved no challenge. Hope this helps
