I have to go to York and hang around waiting for my daughter. I have 4 days to spend just chilling. I planned on going onto the Yorkshire Moors and visiting Whitby and surronding area's.
I do alot of wildcamping in my converted Nissan Primastar van. I hate paying to park but will if the view is grand. I love waking in the morning, sliding open the side door, so the dog can have a play, and lay in bed admireing the view.
Not wishing to offend, when ever I've seen pictures of the Yorkshire Moors it has always looked depressing.
Plse change my outlook and send me somewhere beautiful.....thank you.

The Moors are bleak - that is part of their appeal,
and can be frightening in certain conditions
if you want to spend some money you could check out the Moors Railway, from Pickering to Grosmont.
if you like pies
go to Great Ayton, celebrate James Cook, have an excellent pie from Petchs then an equally excellent cuppa / or ice cream - if the cyclists will let you in at Suggitts
check out the daffodils in Farndale
have a quick blast up Sutton Bank and enjoy the view
see picture postcard Thornton-le-Dale
if you got a bike have a blast through Dalby Forest

then there is the Yorkshire Dales, the Yorkshire Wolds, a vast coastline, some excellent rivers

and, of course, York itself, find some Snickelways and explore the city in style ENJOY
go to the Hairy Fig for a great selection of bread, cheese and just about everything else [Marmite Bread!]
fish n chips from Mr Chippy on Swinegate
if you've got an awful lot of money have tea at Betty's

if you're bored with York check out Hull, home of some excellent museums, take a walk over the Humber Bridge,

and if you've still time to kill - the county has some beautiful villages, most with excellent little local pubs

Frncophile. Thank you, I'll google it and if near by then I'll give it a try. Cheers

Rayduff. I only got 4 days! Thank you. I write all these things in a big notebook that I carry in my van. When ever and where ever I go I love eating and drinking local produce so pie's from Petchs is right up my street.
Cheers mate. Appreciated.

Should have re-worded the heading. Dropping some one off at Leconfield military camp and picking them up 4 days later. Seems a pity not to enjoy the Dales. Never ben in the area...hence the post.
No ulteria motive...honest!

When in Millington go to the Ramblers cafe, I believe it has been extended so you no longer have to sit on eah others knees
Pocklngton - try posh eating and brilliant views at the KP club on road out to Kilnwick Percy, or a relaxing snack at the World Peace Cafe at the Buddhist Centre opposite the Golf Club
enjoy !!
