We have an Autocruise starfire El fitted with the Tecno Step. The steps will work fine when lowered by the switch. However on most occasions they will not retract when the switch is pressed. The do retract when the engine is started with no problem. I found that by repeatedly pressing the micro switches a few times they then work as normal. I have had the switches off and sprayed them with contact cleaner which cured the problem for a while. The problem has now returned, so I presume the micro switches are worn or dirty inside which can not be accessed. Can anyone help me with the name of a company who supply spare parts for the steps. We desperately need to get two mew micro switches. Thanks in anticipation for your help. Anne & Ken

Hi Anne & Ken
This the only link I can find for a supplier
http://www.frontier-leisure.co.uk/Caravan-and-Motorhome-Steps/Techno-Electrical-Double-Step

There are other forum topics but I didn`t find them much help.
It`s strange they are working with engine started ! are you sure the leisure batteries are charged and in good condition ?
A friend of mine has a Autocruise Starblazer and he gets problems with his steps.
Keep us posted

Hi Wyn. Thanks for that. Sorry to mislead you. What I meant was the steps retract automatically, as they should when the engine is started. Other than that the don't work when the engine is running. The leisure battery is fully charged and is only six months old. It is almost certainly a problem with the micro switches being faulty. They are probably corroded a little on the inside which is hardle surprising given their position on the van, and the fact that they are almost six years old. Thanks agin for your help. Anne & Ken

Take the switches out and go to your nearest Maplin store.

Alternatively, Google microswitches or have a look at Maplin.co.uk - they may have an equivalent switch.
