Hi there, we have recently bought our first campervan - a 1986 C reg Fiat Ducato. It's luverly

Unfortunately I blew the starter motor in the winter by trying too hard to get it started when it was cold - and because we were about to go away I had also switched the 3 way fridge to 12v.

The light behind the switch no longer works and nor does the fridge on 12v. Has the fuse blown? Hopefully this is the case. And if it is the fuse, then where is that kept?? The fridge works great on mains electric and also gas but when driving it no longer works on the 12v. Any advice will be greatly received.

Bear in mind that the 12V only works on the fridge when the engine is running, and the 12V only works on the internal lights etc.. when the engine is stopped.

You will almost certainly have a fuse for the fridge, but where it is depends on the converter, not the base vehicle.
Have you any manual for the conversion?

Surprized to hear that it's hard to start. My Ducato is newer, but it has always started very easily in any weather.

We have a 08 plate Ducato, and had a recent problem with starter motor connections, that affected the alternator/charging of van and leisure battery. This also affected the relay for the fridge. New starter, new connections and charging and fridge work fine. I'd get an auto electrician to have a look,
alan
