Has anyone actually had any success with this WiFi "service" whilst on campsites or rallies?  mine came free with a BT package and I'd like to access it when I'm away. I've set it all up from home so know I SHOULD be able to use it. Any suggestions please?  Is there a booster or something I could add? I'm not very well up on all this techno stuff.

Yes I've used it on a c&cc site.

Not quite sure how though!!

On a site switch on laptop (assume it has wifi ) It should pick up any available networks, probably the site one plus some others. You may get nothing if you are in an area without networks, a bit like no mobile signal.

You need to click on the network connections at bottom of screen , then 'view wireless networks'

select BT Broadband and you should be prompted for lodin details.

Sorry this is a bit vague, but it was a bit of a hit and miss affair for us (we'd planned on using a dongle, but forgotten it) We initially went round in circles trying to connect to BT Fon, then BT Open zone, but somehow found that by selecting BT Broadband we got on.

Hopefully someone will post with better instructions, but remember, connection isn't guarrannteed, so if you need access say for work, may need a backup ooption

I think it depends on an Openzone or Fon hotspot being available on site! Certainly my phone connects automatically wherever a (BT) hotspot exists.
Fon works by accessing any BT customer's network (as long as they have signed up to Fon), Openzone (I would guess) are more commercially based hotspots (pubs, cafes, airports etc).
Whether the site has a WiFi network available, only the site would be able to advise!

It's hit and miss, so I have bought a dongle, which ran out of credit without warning, which apparently they do if part of the welcome bundle, as they call it. Worked ok up to that and have credited it ready for our next trip.

I have a BT Home Hub which is set up for both BTFon and Openzone. Although my laptop is telling me I have an excellent signal from both, when I have previously tried to connect it is very hit and miss and slow...keeps cutting out and not very reliable at all...and the hub is only about 10 feet away! I wouldn't hold out much hope of getting it outside the building.

I use openzone occasionally, but it's really only any good for checking your emails. Too slow for much else.

I bought one of these It is a WiFi booster. You disable your WiFi on your laptop, plug it in and find a signal. It is directional and I put it on the van roof, works up to a mile I think . I used mine at West Bay recently and got several hot spots to log onto .

Worth a Google

Thanks to you all. Will look at a booster and try the click on to bt broadband if I can. Don't need it for work only to play (as it came free with my home BT package I thought I'd try to use it.) My mobile phone is very ancient, just like me, so doesn't connect to internet etc. Lap top is windows seven so is up to date.
