Hi
Bare with me as some of u may think this is a barmy question!!! We as a family are tent campers usually!! However we have a kid free weekend coming up and our usual outfit would be far to big for us as a couple!!!!
We cant afford a smaller tent sooooo have been thinking of alternatives!
We own a chrysler grand voyager with stow and go seats! does anyone think it would be a prob to put blow up bed in that and use as a van???? Also we have a gelert horizon 8 porch. Would this work as an awning for the kitchen area???
I really cant see any reason why not but we have no room at home to test before we venture out!!
Hope you dont think im bonkers and look forward to any pos/neg responses!

Although I can't see a reason why you couldn't make it work(..somehow),I suppose the biggest stumbling block would be whether the site you intend to use it on,would allow it..As they may see you a neither a campervan nor a tent camper..

Maybe worth just asking with them..

(..I've seen loads of different vehicles on festival sites, with tarps etc lashed to 'em, but of cause that's different all together...)

Here's the Camping and Caravanning Club's Policy -

"Sleeping in private cars or vans with side and rear windows is allowed at Club Sites, provided that the vehicle has specially designated internal sleeping accommodation such as fully reclining seats and fitted curtains. A tent attachment for changing purposes must be erected whenever a car / van is being used for sleeping purposes."

have a look at tigermouses set up , sounds quite similar , and she would appear to be always away , and very comfortable ,, she has a blog address in her signature , with lots of excellent pics ,,

tigermouse posts a lot in the chat forum in the happy campers 54 , and many others , if you're not familiar with the name ,,

This is exactly what I've been thinking of doing with Mazda 5, as seats fold really flat. I already have some window screens and a pop up tent for an awning.

Can anyone recommend sites?

Tigermouse - your set up is fab - do you ring sites first and explain you sleep in the car, or just book a pitch and turn up?

Any advice much appreciated!!
