We have a Swift Mondial 1999 based on a Fiat Ducato and have a problem with the sliding door. We need to get the bottom roller part replaced as it has collapsed and the door keeps getting stuck. Has anyone come across this before and could give us advice on where to obtain the part required?
Good luck with the roller Hoedown. I had to replace the top guide roller on our Peugeot Boxer, same van I think. It cost £66! from our local main dealer. I got 10% off by asking but even so.......

Good idea DaveC but when I tried that I found the top roller is crimped onto the steel arm. BUT... all that is really needed on the top roller is to replace the 'rubber' tread that is glued onto the roller. That's all that was wrong with it. I knew that when I bought the replacement but was pushed for time and resources. I bodged it for a week and then my bit of rubber fell off.
Another source of parts would be one of the 'scrap stores' or breakers. I tried them for a spare wheel for my Ford Fusion, total waste of time!

I found that my bearing was mounted on a shaft which was riveted over at the end, so I ground it off, put the new bearing on, drilled a small hole about 3mm deep in the end I had ground, put in a punch to expand the shaft and tighten the bearing on, no problems so far but mine don't have rubber wheels mounted on them.

The top roller is the same so I could do that but the bearing is OK. I used a small section of bike inner tube and glued it on. It relies on the quality of the glue to stay in place and I re-fitted it too soon after glueing with general purpose adhesive. You can see where I went wrong! I still have the original so I can experiment with it.

We contacted a Fiat dealer who quoted about £137 for the part, so looked on the following website http://www.247spares.co.uk/ who source second hand parts. We had three responses within a day, contacted 2 when we got home and purchased one for £45, received it 2 days later and it is now fitted on and working OK.
So, we would recommend them to anyone wanting spare parts, not necessarily new.
