We took the plunge and have bought ourselves an Autosleeper Topaz (VW Transporter conversion) and we love it. We've been away a few times in it and love the freedom it gives us, although we are falling in to the trap of buying more and more accessories!

Anyway, my query is about alarms. Can anyone recommend a reasonably priced alarm for the campervan? There seem to loads out there on the market but we just don't know where to start with deciding which is the best type/make etc. and one which will satisfy the insurer's requirements too.

Just a wee tip that i use wont help with insurance though. I hook a couple of the small personal alarms you can buy for a couple of pounds on to the front cab doors when going to bed so if anyone tries to break in then it pulls the string out.

My insurance went down to just less than £200 from £350 when I had a thatcham approved alarm fitted.

My alarm was £270 with sensors on habitation door and 2 back locker doors.

Its an autowatch. have a minor problem in that the auto arm feature sometimes sets the alarm, but the fitter is coming back next week to sort this out.
