Hi i have an 1983 bedford cf 250, we have had her just over a year,been to your neck of the woods last week, Larbert ! then down to ellesmere in shropshire and back to sheffield.no hick ups.runs like a dream love her to bits.

I saw a converted ice cream van the other day on a K reg, which is think is aout 1972/73.

Theres a few dealers that i know of that seem to specialise in the older campervans, the best one that i have found is down in Norfolk on the Caister to Stalham road, its tucked away down a bit of a lane, but they always have their board out on the main road.

Loads of Js Ks and L reg campervans, from the home converters, to the Talbots and old CIs and Elddis models last time i was down that way. Some were ok to go, others were 'sold as seen' projects with obvious problems such as leaky windows and damp, 'spares or repairs', MOT failures ect. i cannot remember the name of the garage,but its not far past the turning down to Martham village. I last had a wonder around about 3 yrs ago before we bought our caravan.

Near where I live, there used to be (regularly parked up) an original F reg converted Bedford ambulance campervan. Where the ambulance sign at the top of the van used to be, they'd stuck up a sign saying "Camping Rocks". Used to make me laugh every time and for some reason it always made me think of Carry-On films. Haven't seen it for a while but I'm hoping that it lives on somewhere. It was a fantastic looking van.

Mine is newish, but I just love all the old motorhomes I see on the road, they all seem to be really cosy, and of course you are not seeing £1000's in depreciation each year!

i wouldnt mind something older and bigger but sites can get shirty over DIY conversions, and also size can be an issue where old buses may be perfect to convert but not fit in a pitch

even the older winniebagos wouldnt fit

Mine's an L reg Swift Royale, think that's about 1984. Have just acquired it so not sure how good it is yet.

I have an 87 Fiat Ducato Camelot that still runs great, though I wish I could say the same for the bodywork. I had a 1974 transit motorhome some years ago that is still on the road, Saw it in Glencoe during the summer..

We have had several older campervans and when we owned them, we were members of the Classic Camper Club.

This was a great club for getting spares as well as meeting of for club get-togethers.
