Hi there, I wonder if you good people could help me.

It's my wife's 30th Birthday next Easter and she is a massive fan of Classic VW Camper Vans. Not having a spare 25 grand lying about to buy her one I thought it would be nice to go to the West Country for a week or so and hire one...

We have a two year old daughter and are regular campers but have no experience of campervans or campsites in Devon/Cornwall.

Has anyone on here had experience of this and recommend any hire company and/or campsite.

I believe there is a company on or near Dartmoor that hire them out.   VW's are everywhere on Dartmoor.  We were at one site and we had a hired VW pitched either side of us and then moved site the next day and there were about 4 of them there.  I shall have a look and post their website.

No companies that I can personally recommend but I was looking at a motorhome mag left on the campsite last week and there were quite a few companies in Devon and Cornwall advertising. Have just googled "VW hire west country" and loads came up so there seems plenty to choose from.

Thanks for the info guys, keep it coming.

I have been doing quite a bit of Googling and found loads of potential places to hire from, but there are so many out there and not too sure what to look out for.

Anybody got any suggestions on camp sites? We want somewhere with Hook Up and an indoor pool as my daughter loves swimming. we have tended towards "holiday village" type sites in the past, but have done our fair share of fields in the middle of nowhere...

St Ives Bay holiday park nr Hayle in West Cornwall is ok. We have been there several times over the yrs. It has indoor pool, cafe & bar all under one roof. Massive site with direct access to beach.
