We have just bought a 2003 Trigano Tribute campervan and are about to use it during the coming winter months. Because of the short days, we would like to be able to take a small TV with us, but we are struggling re aeriel/wiring. We can see the socket on the TV shelf, but that is all we can see...........are we missing something obvious? (We intend being on sites with electric hook-up).
No expert as far as the tribby goes but if you have a status 'flying saucer' type aerial on the roof you'll probably find a little white amplifier in a cupboard or under a seat. This operates off the 12v supply. Then all you should need is a short fly lead to the telly from the socket.
Having said that, we get good service on digital terrestrial with a cheap internal Phillips aerial which has a little amplifier in the base and runs on two AAA cells.
If you have an aerial input point on the outside of your van you will need some sort of aerial rig up on a pole or mounted on suckers on the outside. If you do have an external input it's also worth making up a 10 metre coax lead with a plug at each end for when the site has telly on the pitch.
Don't be rushed into spending on a satellite system if you're sticking to the U.K. We had 25 nights touring the Outer Hebrides earlier this year and only failed to pick up terrestrial telly on a couple of nights.
Hope this helps.
------------- The smile you send out is returned a thousand times...
We have the aerial socket inside the camper, but we are struggling to see where it comes out. We also do not have any fixed external aerial, which we think is a little strange for a 2003 camper.
It may be that we go with your suggestion..........unless there is a Tribute owner out there who knows differently?
Has the status aerial been removed from the roof for storage/winter lay-up? Have a look around the roof (Usually the off side) and see if you have a socket with a plastic plug in it. I would put money on there being one fitted as standard when it was new

I think the internal sockets are fitted during conversion, but the arial is an added extra and not every one has one fitted. We only got a TV and arial fitted to our tribby because the TV fixing bracket was already there and we wanted to 'hide' it !!
ejm111, the earlier Tribbys were the better ones in my book (but each to his own). You probably will not be disappointed ! Enjoy ! Comfy, good on fuel with a lttle patience, quiet and good all year road motorhome. easy enough to park.......... I want another one. good luck !
------------- cramming for my finals in the twilight zone
i had a small hole drilled under my caravan for the tv ariel wire it did the trick, just pulled it up inside under bed when travelling popped it back when on site, just an idea, Sandra
