Do you use an outside water container ? if so, use a float valve in the side of the Aqua Roll then a hose to the tap (you can buy the kits or diy). Then the usual 32mm waste hose to the drain. Hope this helps.

I have also thought about connecting directly to the mains water thus getting mains pressure in the van. Its not difficult to put in an in-line feed connection but beware that the pipe and connections inside the van aren't suitable for mains pressure and if it did blow apart!!!!

I just remove the tank filler cap and thread a length of water hose down the filler neck which is left permently connected to the water supply on the pitch. push a plastic bag around the hose just inside the filler neck to stop the spiders going for a swim. it only takes minutes to replenish the on-board tank and its a great time to people watch
You can buy a filler cap (for the tank) that has a hose connection if you want to spend around £20.00

I like going to the tap and filling the water barrel and filling up the tank with a 12v sump pump, and while doing this little job you always meet someone and have a good chin wag.

Probably a £30 a night service pitch then eh!

Me being a tight wad would never pay for service pitches, motorhomes never need them, if they do, might as well get a caravan. But every one is different, if its your choice, good luck.

Thanks everybody for ideals, i'm going to buy a new screw cap for my fresh water tank and try to fit a small vertical AQT 15WT plastic ball valve ( made by PVL Ltd)  into the cap then run a small piece of hose to out side ready to connect to a water tap, I will let you know how I get on. Kiev 4 of us in the camper even if we pay £30 per night it's only £7.50 each it's a gift and this conversion would save so much hassel.

Thanks everyone for your help Mike..

If i understand your explanation correctly you intend to have the valve just inside the filler neck to the under-slung water tank? If so i think your wasting your time as the tank should be fitted with an overflow pipe which comes into action before the water level rises up the filler neck. Mine does anyway. I thought about fitting a ball valve in the water tank itself (its easy to drop the tank and carry this out) just like a loft water tank. You can then plug the water feed hose directly to the tank and never have to worry about flooding etc! However whats stopped me carrying this out is the belief that the ball valve will get shaken to bits via the journey

Regarding the super pitch we wont use anything else if it available. Wish it was £30 a night, we pay double that a night in the south of France but then i'm on holiday as well and her in doors uses the equivalent of Lake Windermere each day

Re above concerns of ballvalve shakiing to bits.

Im a domestic plumber, not a motorhome plumber but I see no reason why its not easy enough to fit a brass valve to the water tank. These are about a fiver and wont get shaken to bits ( get a part 1 brass side entry ballvalve)

The reason that I have never done this is that I dont mind wedging a hose pipe in my filler cap, turning the water on and waiting 5 minutes for it to fill, although sometimes its a faff getting it to stay in. This thread has given me the idea of buying a cheapo (£2) plastic flexible petrol cap and drilling a hole in the middle to put the hose through tightly. I`ll post back if it works well.

This is guaranteed to work

Tank cap with hose connection - ebay

As for the side entry ball valve, yes its easily fitted but i'm still thinking that with 5 gallons of water sloshing around in a 20 gallon tank for 1000 miles might just see off a ball valve

I have a bit of 12mil plastic pipe with an elbow and a bit more pipe (basically an L shaped piece) shoved into the end of my hose. This end fitting hooks into the filler hole, and i can do what i want while its filling.

I cant understand folk who say 'service pitchs are for caravans, you dont need them for motorhomes'. Thats rubbish. Service pitchs are for folk who dont want to cart water 150 yards when its peeing down - including motohomers once their on-board tank is dry. Which doesnt take long where my Mrs is concerned. I always fill a 25 litre container when filling the main tank, then top up the main tank from it with a small pump powered from a socket at the side of the filler. We usually scrape by with this on a weekend trip.
