I'd agree with Jonnyd',the likes of the Caravan Club may be a bit funny about it(..and would probably want to see photos before you joined anyway).
..but as long as it looks like a camper(..and is reasonably tidy),you shouldn't have much of a problem finding sites that'll accept you...
(..however, I'm assuming that by "partially converted",you don't just mean it's got a mattress and a bucket in the back..? ... as I would guess that any vehicle used on sites, would have to be actually registered with dvla as a camper(motorcaravan?) ..
We use the Isle of Avalon at Glastonbury(..not as "hippy" as it sounds )and they have selfbuilds on there..
