Happened again, flat battery, thought I had it sorted, invested in solar panel, but failed to charge enough to turn over.Now I'm concerned if I disconnect battery to charge, I will loose the immobilizer/ alarm or is there a way to get around the problem. Any views much appreciated

if definatley know you will lose your imobiliser etc just charge the battery with everything conected , Dont put a major boost through it though you could some damage .

If you look in manual you should find there is a sequence for resetting immobiliser after reconnecting battery.

You may not lose the immobiliser. Mine went flat as a fart last year - wouldnt even open the doors on the fob. Charged her up and all was well. Its a Thatcham though, not sure if this makes any difference?

If the cigar lighter is the live type, get yourself a PP9 battery with a cigar type adaptor and wire it accordingly, before disconnecting the vehicle battery insert into the cigar lighter, that will give you enough power to keep alarms/radio codes and whatever else runs off the main battery, if the cigar lighter is not live then youn can attach the leads directly to the main battery posts via suitable crocodile clips before disconnecting, i hope you are following me with all this. pretty simple really.

 My veh battery went flat just before Christmas, making the alarm/immobiliser

cheep like a budgie. Had to enter veh thru the habitation door.  Charged up battery with battery charger for night and a morning.  When came to enter  veh. again, the alarm/immob. was working OK. and (touch wood) is still working fine.

PS why does the OP want to disconnect the battery just to charge it?

That above should have been  a PP 3 battery and not a PP 9, i don't know where the hell i got that one from, it must been the red stuff talking.

disconnecting the battery should not effect the immobiliser, put the MH on EHU and it will charge both the leisure battery and the MH battery.

What type of Solar panel was it, if it was one of those little ones you put in your windscreen then th only use for those is as an ice scrapper.

On our motorhome we have a immobilized fob. It opens and lock motorhome and you cannot start motorhome unless you press immobiliser on and off.
today I went motorhome and found it wouldn't start. First thought flat battery. Then I remembered about the little box on the windscreen with numbers on it. When we first got the M/home we were told if it didn't start tap a 4 digit code into box. Yesss!!!
What would cause M/home to go into this mode?
