Please can anyone help with wiring an air horn on my transit mk 7 with canbus electrics, i would not ask this question if it  did not have such an electric system, i'm very good at wiring any motor item up, God knows how many VW dubs i have restored over the years and rewired complete scooters and little fiats 500. But this is driving me crazy, i been told  that you can't even test the wires taken off the original horn to check the polarity, because the tester you will be using its not ERROR FREE There must be somebody out there thats done the job.

This sounds a bit to hard to explain in writing, is the old horn still in place?

hI WIneciccio I would think you would be ok to use a tester with the old unit in place , is this the canbus system that everyone goes on about.

I think you will find the horn is wired the old way with a relay so should be ok

Right its been sorted thanks to a very nice chap from my local ford garage that explained on how to wire the bloody thing, but now another gremlin as appeared, taken the original plug off the horn, and i cannot find anything to fit it and i do not wish to hack  it off in case i have to use the original horn for MOT purposes.

Air horns are fine for MOT only musical ones will fail & are illegal

Ahhh thanks for that, that means one thing that if i hack the wires off i will have to leave the airhorns on when i sell/exchange the camper. So be it i will make the van ready for surgery before the weekend is here.

Well sorted, got the air horn this morning and fitted it, left the original in place and haven't hacked the wiring at all, followed adviceof the chap from ford garage and all is well.
